The Usual Distributor Failure Symptoms to look for


    1) The car breaks down with no warning. Breakdown services diagnose loss of ignition.

    2) Intermittent breakdown - car cuts out when hot then restarts when engine cools down.

    DIY Repair

    There are just the air intake, 6 HT Wires, 2 Plugs and 2 Bolts to deal with

  1. Take off the air intake
  2. Note the position of the distributor before remove so you can put the new one in the same position
  3. Label the HT wires and disconnect them
  4. Remove the 2 square Plugs
  5. Remove the bolts
  6. Pull out the distributor and replace with new one
  7. Fit bolts and set distributor to same position as old one
  8. Tighten bolts
  9. Fit HT wires
  10. Fit square plugs
  11. Start car
